MEET EBONY
Ebony Martin has dedicated 24 years to law enforcement, serving the Opelousas community in roles ranging from patrol and investigations to Internal Affairs and supervision. Her experience also includes service as the only female member of the Opelousas Police Department SWAT team, along with instructor and leadership responsibilities.Throughout her career, she has remained committed to professional policing, accountability, and treating people with dignity and respect. She is running for Chief of Police to bring experienced, fair, and community-focused leadership to the department—guided by one standard for everyone.

THE PLAN FOR OPELOUSASTRAINING • TRUST • TRANSPARENCY
My plan is built on three commitments: better training for our officers, rebuilding trust between law enforcement and the community, and greater transparency and accountability within the department.
TRAINING
Officers deserve the training and preparation they need to serve with confidence and professionalism. I will prioritize continuous training in criminal law, constitutional policing, de-escalation, officer safety, leadership development, and community engagement.
TRUST
Trust is earned through consistent, fair, and respectful policing. I will work to strengthen relationships between officers and the community through visibility, communication, and accountability applying one standard for everyone.
TRANSPARENCY
Transparency builds confidence. I will promote clear communication, accountability, and openness within the department so the community understands how decisions are made and officers know what is expected of them.

Public safety requires more than responding after a crime occurs. My approach will focus on proactive policing, visible officers in our neighborhoods, stronger relationships with residents, and the responsible use of technology to help prevent and solve crime.
COMMUNITY-FOCUSED POLICING
Officers should be visible, approachable, and connected to the neighborhoods they serve. I will prioritize consistent neighborhood patrols, stronger officer-community relationships, and meaningful engagement with residents and local businesses.
PROACTIVE POLICING
We cannot simply wait for crime to happen and respond afterward. I will emphasize proactive policing that uses officer visibility, crime trends, community information, and sound police work to identify problems early and address them before they grow.
TECHNOLOGY THAT SERVES PUBLIC SAFETY
Technology should help officers prevent and solve crime while respecting the rights of the people we serve. I support the responsible use of proven public-safety technology when it is used lawfully, transparently, and with appropriate safeguards and accountability
